What’s in your highlight reel?
You may not know this, but I’m a very competitive person, just not in the typical ways. I was never great at sports, but I worked hard to be my best.
Losing didn’t frustrate me in ways it did my teammates. You see, I was a very self aware child and teen, and could always see where I could be better.
To this day I feel I’m constantly competing with myself. I see every day the highlight reels and the low lights.
I’m not doom and gloom, I celebrate my highlights as any normal person should. But I indeed spend time on my missed shots.
The convo that didn’t go as planned. The time I said something sharp out of frustration. The moment I let someone on my team down in some way.
Find time in your day to watch your reels. Celebrate these wins and shots made. The closed sale, the positive review you had; and look for the moments you think could have been better.
Don’t dwell and spiral. Identify the problem, and find a solution. Take action. Read the book, seek out podcasts, ask a mentor to help you solve these.
I promise, someday you will be reviewing another days highlight reel and you will see the hard work show up.
